I dug out my Santa Fe SF 48130 Alco sets as I had two and was preparing to sell one of them. I was actually considering selling both, and decided that prior to this I should at least set my Alco B unit with rail sounds on the track and see what it sounded like. Long story short, this experience caused me to change my mind and keep one of the SF 48130 sets.

You may notice that the A unit is not an Alco PA1, it is my American Models FP7 which has been converted to TMCC from DC. You can check it out here.

I think most people on the S-trains list have seen the units, but I wondered how many had heard the improvement in rail sounds in the last few years. Heck I had one of these new b units and had never heard it run. Part of what made me curious is I was out on Lionel's site looking for parts and noticed that the schematic had changed on the rail sounds system.

To experience rail sounds please right-click on the links below select save as, and download to your computer. (Pay attention to the directory you save to!)

Hi quality video 2.1mbps (19meg file)

1.5mpbs (13.6 meg file)

  .5mpbs (4.6meg file)

.15 mpbs (1.4meg file)

Pick the file consistent with your bandwidth, the sound doesn't change much, so if all you want is to hear it click on the last one which is not much bigger than a still shot. These are all Windows Movie Videos, so if you have a mac you are just out of luck for now if you have the wrong codec.

Enjoy!
